On Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 4PM – 6PM Advocates for Life and New Yorkers for Parental Rights will cosponsor a second Peaceful Rally to oppose New York State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins’ (D-Yonkers) radical abortion bill, Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection – RHAPP.  The Rally will be held at Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins’ district office located at 35 East Grassy Sprain Road – near Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.

The decision to hold this second rally was made after a May 8th meeting with Senator Stewart Cousins and bill opponents, where she admitted that the seriously flawed bill is being reviewed, and insisted: “This bill is going nowhere.”

 “As long as RHAPP exists, we will continue to oppose it,” stated Leslie Diaz, spokesperson for New Yorkers for Parental Rights.

 According to Alan Mehldau, Director of Westchester Putnam Respect Life Committee, “This bill provides no loving choice for women who may be facing an unplanned pregnancy.  The only “choice” allowed under this bill is the choice that financially benefits the abortion industry.”
 
“This bill is clearly targeting minority communities,” said Reverend Abbelane Rivera.  “She didn’t respond to our concerns about the serious effects RHAPP would have on the minority community,”

“She also said that the RHAPP was drafted by Spitzer and she just signed her name to it,” remarked Reverend Valentin Rivera, President of the Westchester County Hispanic Clergy Organization,

“This bill goes far beyond Roe v. Wade by making abortion during all 9 months of pregnancy a fundamental right,” stated Richard Brand, a constituent who attended the meeting. “It is straight off of the abortion industry’s wish list.”

“We appreciate Senator Stewart-Cousins’ decision to meeting with us to discuss the many harmful and reckless aspects of RHAPP,” concluded Doreen Ball from Advocates for Life. “While our discussion with the Senator was encouraging, the RHAPP act itself embodies complete disregard for human life – both of the unborn and their mothers - and we maintain our commitment to oppose this heinous legislation. We call upon Senator Stewart-Cousins to officially state that she no longer supports the RHAPP Act she introduced to the Senate and that she will not reintroduce it for consideration in a revised form.”

The May 15 Rally will be held Rain or Shine.

Este Jueves 15 de Mayo 2008 al las 4:00 PM -6:00 PM las organizaciones  los “Advocates for Life”  (Defensores de la Vida) y los  “New Yorkers for Parental Rights”  ( Nuyorquinos Pro Derechos De Los Padres) auspiciaran su segunda concentracion para demostrar su oposicion a la Sra. Andrea Stewart Cousins, Senadora del Estado de Nueva York (D-Yonkers) por su legislacion de aborto conocida como RHAPP (Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act)  (Salud Reproductiva y Proteccion de Privacidad).   Esta concentracion se llevara cabo al frente de las oficinas de la Senadora Andrea Stewart Cousins ubicada en el 35 East Grassy Sprain Road – cerca de Tuckahoe Road en el condado de Yonkers.

La decision para esta concentracion resulto despues de una reunion el 8 de Mayo entre la Senadora Stewart-Cousins y los oponentes de esta ley.  Durante dicha  reunion la Senadora admitio que esta ley contiene fallos y que tiene que ser revisada.   Ella tambien insistio que esta pieza legislativa “No va para ninquna parta”.     

“Mientras RHAPP exista, nosotros siempre vamos a oponernos a ella sea revisada o no” expreso Leslie Diaz la porta voz de los “Nuyorquinos Por Los Derechos De Los Padres.”    De acuerdo al Director de “Westchester Putnam Respect For Life Committee”, el Sr. Alan Mehldau dijo que “ Esta legislacion no provee ninguna opcion para las mujeres confrontando un parto inesperado.   La unica “opcion” que permite esta ley es la opcion financiera que solo beneficia a la industria del aborto.”

“Esta ley claramente tiene como objetivo las comunidades minoritaria.”    Dijo la Reverenda Abbelane Rivera.   “ La Senadora no tuvo repuesta cuando le expresamos nuestras serias preocupaciones sobre los effectos que la ley RHAPP tendra  en nuestras comunidades minoritarias.”     De acuerdo al Revdo. Valentin Rivera, Presidente de La Organizacion  de Ministros Hispanos de Yonkers,   “La Senadora expreso que La Ley RHAPP fue escrita por el ex-gobernador Spitzer and que ella solo la auspicio con su firma”  

“Esta ley se sobre pasa de la corriente ley de “Roe v. Wade” porque bajo esta ley un aborto se podra hacer durante los 9 meses de embarazo porque se convierte en un derecho fundamental” expreso el Sr. Richard Brand, un constituyente que asistio a la reunion.   “Esta ley viene directamente de la lista de deseos de la industria del Aborto.”

“Nosotros apreciamos la decision de la Senadora reunirse con nosotros para discutir los aspectos peligrosos, y temerario, de esta ley.”  Concluyo la Sra. Doreen Ball  de la organizacion  Advocates for Life.  “Aunque nuestra discusion con la Sendaora Cousins fue alentadora, la ley RHAPP encarna el completo  descuido, y falta de respecto a la vida humana de los aun no nacidos, y a sus madres.   Nosotros nos mantenemos con nuestro compromiso a nuestra oposicion de esta atros legislacion.    Nosotros le pedimos a la Senadora Stewart-Cousins que publicamente declare que ella NO continuara respaldando la ley RHAPP la cual  ella introdujo al Senado, y que no la va ha reintroducir para consideracion en su forma revisada.” Esta demonstracion se llevara a cabo sol o lluvia.    Toda la prensa esta bienvenida.    Para mas informacion favor de llamar a Teresa Matheson al
